Artist Spotlight: SAVOY

After seeing these Boulder natives tear up the Heineken dome at EDC last week, it was a no brainer to write up a spotlight on them. Colorado has treated a lot of aspiring DJ’s well and none are more apparent then the UC Boulder grads Gray Smith, Ben Eberdt, and Mike Kelly who make up the group Savoy. From playing at UC Boulder’s soldout “Glowfest” in the spring to the dedicated UC fans raging in Vegas, the love for Savoy is everywhere. And I mean, why not? These guys put on one of the most hyphy electro shows I’ve seen in awhile. I first fell in love with them after hearing a remix of a song I have listened too since I was in middle school by the Dire Straits.

Money For Nothing (Savoy Remix)

Anyone that can take an American classic and do it honor has respect in my book. Not only are these guys great producers, but they are some serious party animals. One of them went as far as making out with a go-go girl on stage for ten seconds during their set @EDC making him my fucking idol. They are also tearing through the festival scene with stops at EDC Vegas (last week), Camp Bisco, Lollapalooza, Global Dance KC, a rumored show in Denver, and of course more dates in Vegas! Their rock-rooted electro-house feel makes for great production and an even more impressive live show so check out their schedule and make sure not to miss them this summer. Oh, and tell me you don’t love this first song titled Free Agent.

Savoy – Free Agent (Original Mix)

Savoy – Get Static (Original Mix)

I’ve finally got a day off and will be pumping this mix as I head out for my long-awaited holiday partying, I recommend you do the same.
