Arty: The 21 Year Old Russian Prodigy + Funkagenda Live Essential Mix

Veteran Markus Schulz honors new-comer Arty, and for good reason

This is coming way too late, but there’s no way around mentioning Arty when speaking about anything in the EDM world these days. If you haven’t heard of this 21-year-old Russian, then you have been living under a rock. After releasing plenty of remixes and original tracks starting in 2009, Arty released “Around the World” on July 4th, 2011. Personally speaking it is one of my favorite tracks this year and the world seems to agree considering it has hovered around the Top 10 on the Beatport Top 100 since its debut. “Around the World” has been endorsed by David Guetta and Dirty South among others, and has been featured on podcasts Trance Around the World and Dance Department.

I’m excited to bring you a handful of my favorite Arty tracks, but keep in mind this is just the tip of the iceberg. His Wikipedia Page shows you just how many tracks he has put out so far and there is no doubt in my mind Arty will be around for a long time to come. If you’re going to Electric Zoo Festival, keep your eyes open for Arty’s time slot because his will definitely be a set you want to go check out.

Arty – Around the World (Original Mix)
Arty & Mat Zo – Rebound
Ferry Corsten – Punk (Arty Rock-n-Rolla Remix)

Next I bring you Funkagenda’s Essential Mix recorded live from the world-famous Space club at Ibiza. The British man keeps his set primarily to funky House tunes, but throws in notable tracks such as Wolfgang Gartner’s new “Menage A Trois” as well as Nero’s “Innocence”. I was particularly impressed by his ability to flawlessly mix from a House beat into a Dubstep beat and back to House, which is not a skill all DJs have without making the transition obvious. Check out the tracklist after the jump.
