I am so excited to be back bringing you our weekly installment of Survival Sunday! It was a long and interesting holiday season and New Years and I must thank the good people over at Triad Dragons for making my New Year’s Eve truly one to remember and for allowing us to be a part of Decadence, which, with an attendance of 11,000 people, was officially the LARGEST DANCE MUSIC EVENT EVER in Colorado. The EDM missle has been launched and I hope all of you are along for the ride because this shit is blowing up!
This first track was actually released at the end of last year but, since we had stopped this series for our Best of 2011 posts, I had to make sure it found it’s way on here. It’s a collaboration between Sander Van Doorn and Bloc Party’s lead singer Kele, who is making a name for himself outside of the indie rock scene from which he came with this track and his collaboration with Martin Solveig from last year “Ready 2 Go”. Absolutely great house music.

Next, Laidback Luke released two tracks this week in honor of him reaching 200,000 Twitter fans (should be way more than that if you ask me). The free one, “Do The Robot” was pretty good and can be found here but the standout for me was his remix of “Dancin” by Aaron Smith. Here’s a SoundCloud rip of that track and be sure to congratulate Mr. LBL via Twitter for his engagement to fellow DJ Gina Turner this past week!

Coyote Kisses probably released their most talked about song ever this week in the form of a remix to the Jedi Theme from Star Wars. If you spent anytime on any other music blog this week, you undoubtedly heard of it (which is why we didn’t feel the need to post it earlier) but here it is if you missed it. Lots of their melodic electro to love here.

Lastly, Knife Party released their VIP mix of their “Crush On You” remix, which was one of the hardest hitting dubstep remixes from 2011 and this one, while not too much different, give you a little more than the original remix and is exactly what you typically expect to get out of a VIP mix. You’ll be surprised when the drop hits.

BONUS: Looking to take it easy today? Not if you’re in Colorado and the BRONCOS are about to BUCK all over the Steelers this afternoon, but if you’re anywhere else check out this laid-back disco edit of the undeniably cool track “Big Jet Plane” by Angus and Julia Stone.
