Who’s ready for some funky House? Clocking in at just under 14 minutes, this two-song EP by Progressive House legend Mark Knight dropped on Beatport just in time for the Winter Music Conference in Miami. If you don’t know Mark Knight’s work, he’s had a long line of successful productions, including collaborations with juggernauts Wolfgang Gartner (“Conscindo“) and Tiesto (“Beautiful World“). Additionally he had a HUGE remix in 2011 with his take on Florence and the Machine’s “You Got the Love” (nominated for Progressive track of the year at the International Dance Music Awards [IDMAs]).
The two tracks on this EP, called “Alright” and “Together”, are pure House music with some added funk. I wouldn’t consider them bangers, but I’d definitely consider them perfect tunes for any one of the pool parties happening this week in Miami, or at any Summer party for that matter. According to Beatport, “‘ALRIGHT’ is a tasty homage to the golden era of house, circa 1995 & ‘TOGETHER’ is peak time piano tech-house at it’s finest“. I think those are pretty accurate descriptions as I groove in my desk chair, but I’ll let you be the judge of that…
