The infamous trio that is Swedish House Mafia has been on quite a run lately. The Mafioso’s, aside from being nominated for a Grammy this year and playing the most important EDM show to ever be held in the Big Apple in December, have become synonymous with mainstream house music. Their song “Save The World” has been all over the radio. Their new partnership with Absolut, which includes a music video and an ad campaign all tied in with their latest release “Greyhound”, is being broadcast all over major television stations. Their song “One”, now at a mature two years old, is still considered by many to be THE essential house anthem of our time.
And Sebastian Ingrosso, one member of the trio, is no stranger to his own independently achieved success. Like the rest of his SHM cronies, he runs his own record label, Refune, which is the home for such names as Otto Knows, Style of Eye and his pal and now international superstar Alesso. You might remember Ingrosso’s collaboration with Mr. Alesso, which just so happened to be THE jam of 2011 – “Calling”. Now with a vocal mix, the song still gets played out as one of the must-know Swedish house tunes. When Ingrosso isn’t touring with his Mafia buddies Steve Angello and Axwell, he tours the world independently bringing his awesome Swedish house music collection with him. Making his first appearance in NYC since the iconic SHM show, he is doing back to back nights (4/6-4/7) this weekend at the legendary Roseland Ballroom. If you have ever been to a show of SHM’s or of any of the individual members, you know how much fun there is to be had. If you’ve never been, you have no idea how much you’re missing. And if the promo video above doesn’t make you want to sign up right away, I don’t know what will.
Both shows are to feature labelmates Otto Knows, Style of Eye, and NY DJ Carl Kennedy. Tickets are still available for both nights through Ticketmaster with Friday’s (4/6) tickets going for $74.50 for GA and Saturday’s (4/7) for $63. Get ’em now here and we’ll see you there!
