Passion Pit is one of those groups that I don’t think many guys would be alright with saying they like. Aside from the fact that they basically popularized the synth-pop genre, the pubescent vocals, emo lyrics and, quite honestly, the name are a turnoff to most people who can claim to have a penis that they like to stick in vaginas. That said, I have fond memories of listening to Manners years ago and really enjoying it. I loved listening to all the remixes and it was certainly a guilty pleasure but a pleasure nonetheless.
Their new sound, however, I can’t say I was a huge fan of. I thought it lost the fresh edge that they had when they first became popular. Just wasn’t doing it for me. Then I heard this remix and remembered what all the fun was about. Peking Duk of Australia have racked up a cool 11K plays through SoundCloud on this remix they did to Passion Pit’s latest single in just a day. It’s fun, carefree, and perfect for summer.
Passion Pit’s new album Gossamer comes out July 24. Until then, here’s a couple remixes from back in the day that used to make me very happy.
