Sure, Chiddy Bang, the hip-hop duo consisting of Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege (pictured above, background) and producer Xaphoon Jones, is great at what they do and have made their mark on the hip-hop scene. But for me, Xaphoon Jones has always been much bigger than hip-hop or Chiddy Bang. He is hands-down one of the most underrated producers out there. Every remix he’s come out with is a masterpiece, influenced by so many different genres and sounds, usually unadulterated by his affiliation with the hip-hop world. His collaboration with AC Slater from last year “Believe Me” was one of my favorite dubstep productions at the time. He has a wide taste in music which lends itself to his unique style. If you’ve never really been familiar with Xaphoon outside of Chiddy Bang, these two of his latest remixes should give you a good idea of why I think he’s as good as I do. While both productions feature strong but delicate drum work, as you’d expect from a hip-hop producer, his “Trojans” remix is more upbeat while his “White Coats” remix provides a beautiful and deep soundscape.
