I think I get sucked into the whole genre game as much as the next dance music fan, but I have to say that Fehrplay’s new track “Phantom” helps to define the world of Progressive House. This gem was released on Monday as part of the Pryda Friends label, which is one of Eric Prydz’s labels and sees releases from the genre of, you guessed it: Progressive House. After seeing Fehrplay live two weeks ago I already knew his style was progressive, with detailed and intricate song choices, booming bass lines, and minimal vocals. “Phantom” may have the workings of Pryda and his school of productions, but that is far from a bad thing. The track is high-quality, melodic and energizing at the same time, and after seven minutes you’ll see why this release has been anticipated for months. If you weren’t a believer in Fehrplay already “Phantom” should help sell you on him and as I’ve said before, make sure to catch him live the next time he comes to a venue near you.
