When I saw Eats Everything & Justin Martin would be putting out another collaboration I immediately marked my calendar. These guys are two of my favorite producer/DJs in the Deep House/Tech House/Booty Bass world and their previous effort, The Feather Flight EP was just fantastic. Today’s single release, “The Gettup”, out on dirtybird records is funky and fresh and sprawls out for an incredible eight minutes. I’m almost positive I’ve heard this track live when seeing either Eats, Justin, or dirtybird label master Claude Vonstroke and there’s a good reason why they pumped it over the club speakers. You get some female vocal samples all chopped up, you get some pianos, you get some perfected drum patterns, and my favorite of all: you get some upright bass slides. The track goes through ebbs and flows, rather than just eight minutes of four-on-the-floor drums, making it an interesting listen for anyone who’s a fan of some grimy Tech-House.
If you really want to see these boys in action, head to Electric Zoo Festival during Labor Day weekend, as they will be performing a back-to-back set in the Sunday School tent!
