Henry Fong has really made a name for himself over the years. Now one of the premier names in dance music – on the high-energy Electro-House side of things – there was a time when, for me, Fong was just a guy showing up in my SoundCloud feed with bootlegs on bootlegs of releases. Now the dreadlocked California native’s got over 165,000 Facebook Likes and his music is being supported by guys like Hardwell, Dannic, Tommy Trash, Arty, Felix Cartal, and plenty more. Henry Fong’s name is also being listed atop festival lineups and he is constantly touring as a headlining act.
Earlier this week I had a flashback when I saw a free Henry Fong download in my SoundCloud feed. The track was called “Takin’ It Back” and the tag was “303”. For those who don’t know, a Roland TB-303 synthesizer is what gave us Detroit Techno, Acid House and Techno. “Takin It Back” is an obvious tribute to Acid House and the 303 sound which isn’t something we hear in Dance music all that often anymore . Henry Fong did some great work with this track, as it’s a high-energy song with a vocal hook exclaiming we’re “takin’ it back to the old school” and breaks away from typical Big Room or Electro-House molds. We posted Fong’s track “Blackmail” with DallasK not too long ago and I’ll surely be keeping an eye on him to see what drops next!
I’ve decided to release my new track TAKIN IT BACK for FREE!!! Started out givin away free music and I really wanted to go back to my roots with this one! Supported by Hardwell, Dannic, and more!
