I can’t begin this post without yelling the words “BANGER ALERT!“. But you know what? I have no problem with that. I guess the word “banger” has different meanings to different people (just ask Aziz Ansari), and I often use it interchangeably across genres. G-House, Moombahton, Techno, Trap – they can all have bangers in their own ways. When our friends over at Teal Blue Management (in charge of artists like Lazerdisk) sent me over the track “Recluse” by Miami’s Damaged Goods this morning, I quickly found out they weren’t lying by calling it a “midtempo banger”. Damaged Goods’ latest track summons guys like Boys Noize and Gesaffelstein (“Pursuit” comes to mind) with a 110-ish BPM, slowed-down-but-still-hard kind of vibe. It’s not quite German Acid Techno or Hard Techno, but Damaged Goods’ “Recluse” gives me that kind of European heavy Electro feel. Either way, it’s refreshing to hear a song that has a killer drop but stays away from the overused sounds that are plaguing main stages these days.
There is supposed to be a Free Download with this track but as of right now it isn’t working. Still, go click like on Damaged Goods’ Facebook page, and check out his video below to learn more about the producer/DJ! Oh yeah, in case you’re wondering his real name is Obi Tawil.
