When I first started admiring House music, EDX was one of the first artists who really stood out to me. I was listening to the old Ministry of Sound yearly compilations and EDX’s Indian Summer remix of “Times Like These” by Albin Meyers hit me in all the right ways. Of course EDX is known for his Indian Summer remixes, but he’s also done a superb job of staying relevant in an ever-changing Dance Music climate. EDX releases weekly podcasts, runs a music collective and showcase called No XCuses, tours nonstop, and releases music on record labels like Spinnin’ and Enormous Tunes.
I regularly listen to EDX’s podcasts because they contain so much fresh House music and often feature releases by himself and his friends around the world. We’ve even sponsored a few of the mixes which have been nothing short of excellent. Most recently, EDX released his newest gem “My Friend” and it was featured on No Xcuses #285 (listen below). The track has beautiful vocals on top of a real nice driving bass line and shows how well EDX can adapt to changing sounds while staying unique in his own way. See what EDX writes about the track below and show him some love if you like it!
Premiered during good friend and label mate Nora En Pure’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix debut last month, ‘My Friend’ is further testament to EDX’s ability to put a deliciously deep spin on any track he sets his sights on. Layering the chilled vocals against a hypnotic beat, mesmerizing synths and squelching bass, EDX weaves his magic once again. Whether you’re lazing by the pool or dancing until dawn, EDX has provided yet another infectious summer soundtrack, perfectly encapsulating those hedonistic summer days and nights.
