I always get excited when I see something new from Moon Boots pop into my inbox. The New York-based producer and DJ, real name Pete Dougherty, has become a good friend of us here at MMIBTY. And for good reason. In my opinion there are a select handful of dance music producers out there who consistently put out good music and who have a knack for a live DJ set or mix as well. Moon Boots falls into that category and allows me to say I’ve never heard anything from him I didn’t like.
Out today is Moon Boots’ latest track “I Want Your Attention” featuring the vocals of Fiona. The track is the fourth and final single from Moon Boots’ debut LP First Landing – out August 4th via the always-fabulous Anjunadeep.
While Moon Boots generally keeps things soulful and funky, the tone of his productions can go up or down; versatile music that can be played in the clubs or in the bedroom. The direction of “I Want Your Attention”, to me, is the latter. The track has many of the same elements we love Moon Boots for, but it’s easy to get lost in this one with the sweet melodic vocals of Fiora.
While this may not be your weekend party-starter, it’s sure as hell good for lounging by the pool, playing at the beach, or taking that Summer road trip with the windows down and the music up.
Personally I’m excited for the whole album to drop and to see Moon Boots perform as part of ABGT250 happening in less than two months at The Gorge. If you can’t wait for that event, check out some of Moon Boots’ latest sets below.
