This past Friday the LA-based collective Top Shelf Disco celebrated a major milestone in its evolution from party-starters to record label with its first release titled “That Feelin” by label founders Twinflame and Rozegarden. The track features deep and soulful undertones with a fat bass line and sexy female vocals. “That Feelin” is a versatile production that can just as easily rock dance floors as it can get you groovin’ by the pool or on the beach. An immediate comparison that came to mind was some Gorgon City from Sirens days.
Top Shelf Disco have noticed a gap in the market around the greater LA area. While there’s no shortage of musical talent nor opportunities to see and hear fantastic House music, few groups are stripping away the wobbles and fart bass to summon more of the essence of traditional House. Simple grooves, fun melodies, and something infectious you can’t help to move your butt to.

The Top Shelf Disco team have also been featuring all-female mixes in October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month. For every 100 plays the label will donate $10 to the Pink Fund and you can donate your own money to their fundraiser over on Facebook. So far the mixes have featured My Friend Catie, No Pants Party, and most recently Baby Bok.
