Survival Sunday: There Aren’t Enough Raves To Go Around…

Does those words look familiar? After this week they should… As far as this week’s news, nothing stands out more to me than the fact that tickets for Swedish House Mafia’s show at MSG sold out in a matter of minutes, crashing every server and forcing them to release every single ticket instead of just the presale as they had originally planned. Can you say I told you so? Then, yesterday, Ultra Music Festival in Miami, which I have attended the past two years, released presale tickets at $150, with the festival still 6 months away and no lineup in sight. Guess what? Same shit, different event. Servers crashed and shit sold out before most people were even able to load the goddamn page. What the hell is going on? This shit is out of control. In fact, the presale was such a success that UMF has given to just selling full price tickets now, still with no lineup. And people are going to buy them. No doubt the lineup will be crazy but what world are we living in that people will clamor to spend their hard earned money on some festival where they have no idea who will be playing? That’s just the infectious nature of the beats I guess.

Also, in more relevant news, I’m sure you guys are all aware at this point of the Nero/Porter Robinson ticket giveaway in Burlington. Not only is this extremely significant for us, but the fact that we have officially partnered with 2KDeep and Nectar’s Presents, the two leading forces in Burlington for bringing the best beats to the college town, is huge. With such massive forces behind this EDM movement in Burlington now, you can only expect bigger and better shows along the way (although, admittedly, Nero and Porter is pretty huge). Please go enter the contest (what do you have to lose) and stay tuned for the next big thing to hit Burlington. Also, Zed’s Dead @ Higher Ground tonight anyone?

Now, the tracks that have made a huge impact this week. First, Skrillex previewed a new track which was mixed by PocX (just like Viceroy and Bastille have done with Duck Sauce tracks previously) and here’s the taste. Speaking of Skrillex, have you guys heard of his new stage setup? It’s called The Cell and it’s still in beta testing, but think Skrillex DJing on a Xbox Kinect…

Skrillex – Bangarang (PocX Edit)

Noisa, DnB master, released his newest track this week exclusively on Beatport. It’s called Tommy’s Theme and is absolutely unreal. Such creativity.

Noisa – Tommy’s Theme

Been a while since I’ve heard a track from A-Trak solo (as in not Duck Sauce), but this track just goes to show how versatile this power player really is. Honestly, if you asked me what kind of music A-Trak makes/plays, I would not be able to give you a straight answer. And that’s a good thing…

The Rapture – How Deep Is Your Love (A-Trak Dub aka Dub For Mehdi)

Tommy Trash, who has been making serious waves lately, with much success due to his summer smash “The End”, just released his newest track. He definitely sampled the same sound he used for “The End” so I don’t know whether he just got lazy or he’s trying to define his sound, but this song is just as killer as you’d expect from the trashman himself.

Tommy Trash – Future Folk

And I’m sorry because this last one isn’t a song, it’s a mix, but I couldn’t wait any longer to share it. For those of you who remember how epic Savoy’s Summer Mix was, downloading this one should be a no brainer. These guys are fucking awesome, enough said.
