Build Up/There And Back: Chris Lake, Tommy Trash, and Wolfgang Gartner

Looking around MMIBTY, you’ll notice there isn’t a ton about London-based Scottish House DJ/producer Chris Lake. We’ve posted a couple tracks by him, including his funky Disco House remix of the Nightriders’ “Hey” and his unique remix of Lady Gaga’s “Judas”. Although Lake doesn’t have the status of veterans such as Tiesto, Bob Sinclair, or Benny Benassi, he’s been in the game long enough (early 2000s) to have built significant credibility. In fact, Pete Tong (legendary radio host for BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix), has referred to Chris Lake as “the best thing to come out of Scotland since Mylo” (check out one of my favorite Mylo tunes HERE).

Lake’s style doesn’t fit any one particular sub-genre of House music. He’s been known to produce Tech-House, Disco House, Progressive House, and even Electro-House with this latest release. His previous release, “Sundown”, received incredible acclaim and huge support from Pete Tong, being listed as one of his essential new tunes.

“Build Up” is more of an Electro release from Chris Lake. With a bass line that reminds me of a Tommy Trash bass line, a Big Room House lead line, and sexy vocals from his wife Gita Lake – this track is an absolute banger. And with Tommy Trash’s edit of the song, we get even dirtier, as he gives it his standard Tommy Trash treatment (in other words he makes it even heavier and more electro-y).

Also for you today is Wolfgang Gartner’s latest release. Our apologizes for bringing this to you after its January 31st release, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. More of a Big Room sound from Wolfgang, which is refreshing, but at the same time we hear snips of the sounds that rose Wolfgang Gartner to elite status in the production world. I really really like this one and glad to see Wolfgang’s style starting to evolve, ever so slightly.
