2011 in Review: The Best in Electro-House!

Merry Christmas to all! Today Santa brings you a special treat in the form of ten awesome Electro-House songs from 2011. This might be my personal favorite category not only of our year in review countdown, but of any sub-genre of EDM. Electro-House may not have a standard definition, nor does a particular song have to fit a certain set of criteria in order to be considered Electro-House, but a listener always can tell…

This year was huge for Electro-House. During a time when dubstep was almost taking over the music industry (and pop culture as we know it), producers of House music were looking to create some filthy beats to compete. A “wobble” sound would deviate from its roots in dubstep and make its way toward a 4-on-the-floor House beat and the bass would be so heavy that your neighbors would tell you to turn down your music (it happened to me on several occasions). Producers Dada Life released their Sausage Fattener to the world and allowed EDM tracks to get even more grimy and filthy. Artists like Zedd, Mord Fustang, Tommy Trash, Wolfgang Gartner, and Dada Life themselves continued to push the envelope of kicking our asses on the dance floor. Even Tiesto managed to push out some Electro bangers this year, which is a huge change from the Trance he used to release in his past.

Here are ten of our favorite Electro-House songs from 2011, in no particular order. A lot of these should look familiar.

1.) Zedd – Shave It
2.) Wolfgang Gartner – Space Junk
3.) Tiesto – Maximal Crazy
4.) Tommy Trash – The End
5.) Dada Life – White Noise/Red Meat
6.) Mord Fustang – Lick the Rainbow
7.) Autoerotique – Turn Up the Volume
8.) Michael Woods – First Aid
9.) Nom De Strip, Sue Cho, TJR – My Life
10.) Lazy Rich – Better Wipe That Up/You Missed a Spot
